Summary/Abstract: Aim. The article aims to present the phenomenon of love in the philosophy of Søren Kierkegaard. This philosopher distinguishes many categories of love – from preferential love to agape. Methods. The research method is the analysis of selected scientific and popular science publications and philosophical texts. Results. The phenomenon of love in Kierkegaard's approach takes many forms and manifests in various categories. There are not many phenomena - there are various manifestations of them, and the concept of unified love is possible. Conclusions. Preferential love and love of neighbour are not mutually exclusive - they are somehow dependent, or at least they have ,,points in common”. This relationship seems to be a promising ground for further analysis and research.
