Summary/Abstract: The government army was an armed corps that existed from July 1939 to May1945 and was one of the elements of the apparent autonomy of the Protectorateof Bohemia and Moravia. The maximum number of its members may not exceed8000. The government army consisted of 12 battalions evenly distributedthroughout the protectorate and was armed only with light weapons. The maintasks were the guard service and assistance in dealing with the consequencesof natural disasters or later assistance in removing the consequences of Alliedair raids. The first battalion then had ceremonial tasks at Prague Castle as anhonorary unit of the Protectorate President Dr. Emil Hácha. However, even afterdecades, the lives of members of the government army remain undescribed.
