Four views of artistic text for children

Summary/Abstract: The text surveys the current state of university students’ (future teachers) readiness to work with literary texts. In addition to our own experience, we also rely on the results of the questionnaire from 2019/2020. We state that the future teachers manifested great problems with the interpretation of artistic literary texts for children, as some of them had not experienced meaningful teaching of literature during their studies at all, so they do not possess essential knowledge how to transfer such skills into educational practice. This fact is supported by the insufficient level of reading literacy of Slovak pupils. In the text, we describe four views on artistic text for children, which might help university students understand the concept of targeted education in the field of working with artistictext for children.
