Summary/Abstract: In this article the importance of motivation in an individual’s learning a foreign language in modern age is mentioned. Motivation is one of the most essential factors in acquiring a foreign language skillfully. By explaining the motivation itself and distinguishing variables ,such as attitudes, goals, environment ,etc. And at the same time the theories related to motivation, namely, Gardner’s motivation theory, Social-education model and others the role of motivation in second foreign language acquisition has been demonstrated.
