Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to discuss the phenomenon of the writer's self-creation in Jerzy Pilch's List of Adulteresses. The following methods were used to analyse the material: literary representation analysis and hermeneutics. This publication is an interpretation of the work of the Cracov writer from the perspective of the discussed topic. It highlights the multitude of autobiographical threads present in the work, the relationship between literary fiction and the facts from the life of the artist from Wisła, and asks whether it is appropriate to identify a writer-author with a writer-hero. The conclusions showed that Pilch in a special way endowed the main character of the novel with his characteristic language, personal qualities and experiences. As a result, in an innovative way, he highlighted not only personal problems and worldview, but also conflicts and socio-cultural dilemmas characteristic of his early career.
