Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to analyse the development of disputes between the priest Karol Anton Medvecký and Bishop Wolfgang Radnai in the second decade of the 20th century. The conflict, which took place in the territory of the Banská Bystrica diocese, depicts rivalry relationships between politically active Slovak priests and the Hungarian episcopate – integrally connected with the official Hungarian political discourse. It began when the bishop relocated the priest into the complicated parish of Bacurov, where Medvecký had to face geographical, economic, mental and cultural isolation. After many years of ignoring his requests for relocation, the priest raised complaints against the bishop to the nunciature in Vienna and subsequently to the Council of the Congregation in Rome.
