Europol Liaison Officers — The Role, Tasks, and Legal Aspects

Summary/Abstract: Liaison officers play an important role in the international cooperation ofpolice services. This applies not only to the mutual delegation of officers between statesbut also to international organisations. Consequently, a network of liaison officersdelegated to Europol’s headquarters in The Hague is developed. This article analysesthe legal acts that regulate the functioning of Europol liaison officers and presents thegenesis of this institution. Finally, an attempt was made to identify possible trends inthe development of information exchange through this channel.
