Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the topic of infanticidefrom Eastern Greater Poland, imprisoned in the Fordon penitentiary in the interwar period. A definition and historical outline of the crime of infanticide is presented. The history of the penitentiary house in Fordon was also described. The last part of the article analyzes the files of four female prisoners from Greater Poland who were convicted of infanticide. The research concerned the following areas: description of the prisoner, prosecution, circumstances of the crime, opinions on early release and early release. The ending is an attempt to draw conclusions resulting from the analysis of archival documents – files of prisoners and a generalization of the portrait of infanticide and social attitudes towards the committed act.
