Summary/Abstract: The forerunners of Romanian music tried to express the national character through their works, taking inspiration from popular creation, becoming models for the following generations. The choral melody Dor, Dorule, - the sixth work among the 12 National Melodies, collected and harmonized by Gavriil Musicescu, was notated, for the first time, by Anton Pann, in the first half of the 19th century, bearing the title Till I Didn't Love You. Gavriil Musicescu sensed the indisputable value of musical folklore and managed to draw attention to the value of the folkloric musical vein, which became, over time, an inexhaustible source of inspiration for Romanian composers, through which they proved their originality compared to other European composers.
