Summary/Abstract: "This article presents an approach to Academic Writing that seek to address the varied writing needs of university students. The article is divided into three sections. The first section discusses academic style in the context of appropriateness, noun phrases, and shell noun structures as cohesive devices. The second section discusses the writing process from reading strategies for source texts, synthesis grids, paraphrasing, synthesising sources, and the use of reporting verbs to develop the authorial voice of the writer. The last section discusses the use of corpus, the impact of the knowledge building of different academic disciplines on the genres and lexical and grammatical structures that writers for a particular discipline require. The affect that LLMs may have on assessment of academic writing is also discussed."
