Summary/Abstract: In the first part of the article, the context of using the expression paedagogia perennis is explained. Next, it discusses such issues as: the fact of human potentiality, which should be appropriately updated in the process of upbringing; it indicates the “tools” with which we can update these potentials, which according to paedagogia perennis are appropriate improvements, i.e. virtues (moral, intellectual, productive or social). The article closes with a discussion of the status of the tutor – teacher – master, which is defined by paedagogia perennis, and the resulting specific roles and tasks for the teacher.
