Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to attempt a philosophical explanation of the problem of the crisis of rationality. First, it talks about the specificity of the rational order of the real world, which is based on the rationality of being, the rationality of cognitive acts and the reason for knowing. These elements guarantee understanding of reality in its most important dimensions and protect against the crisis of rationality. This crisis (disorientation, lack of understanding) appears when the understanding of individual elements of the rationality of the real world is modified, and as a consequence, some of its areas are considered irrational. This was shown on the example of two types of rationality: a priori and positivist. The basic conclusion from the conducted analyzes is that philosophical assumptions lie at the root of the crisis of rationality. They concern both ontological and anthropological issues.
