Summary/Abstract: This article aims to highlight the real potential of the Neapolitan language in literature and, in particular, in theatre, its expressive power, its communicative capacity, especially in the transmission of feelings and emotions. I have tried to examine the modern Neapolitan language by examining the various passages through the centuries and the contaminations due to the various foreign dominations, which have obviously left their mark, including merits and defects.
