Summary/Abstract: Although he is one of the most significant figures in the history of Islamic philosophy, Suhrawardi had a very short but fruitful life, filled with travels and the acquisition of knowledge since childhood. However, his knowledge and dominance in debates earned him many enemies, which eventually cost him his life. Among Suhrawardi’s works known as “short visionary epistles” is Risāla fī hālāt el tufliyya (Epistle on the states of childhood). This epistle talks about the process of acquiring knowledge before a spiritual teacher.
