Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the image of the Mother of God record¬ed in religious songs popularised in the Silesian-Moravian borderland through the prayer book Úplný kancionál pro lid moravský v býv. pruské části arcidiecése olomucké, published at the beginning of the 20th centu¬ry. These texts present Mary as Protector, Advocate, Mother (not only of Christ, but also of all people). The songs are known among the oldest inhabitants, but due to their inclusion in the repertoire of the “Cecylia“ choir from the St. Wenceslas Parish in Krzanowice they may indeed sur¬vive in the memory of next generations. In addition, the author discusses the complicated history of the bor¬derland area being the subject of research, i.e. the spoken language, na¬tional and religious affiliation. Also mentioned is the Marian cult, which has a long tradition in the research area.
