Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to determine how the COVID‑19 pandemic influenced the practical side of education in the acquisition and improvement of aviation skills through flight training in selected aviation clubs. The topic is important because the pandemic may have negatively affected pilots’ levels of competence, which may have serious consequences both in the short and long term. These effects can be felt by both business and academic communities. The work is a case study (the result of a scientific pilot research). The desk research method and the in‑depth interview method were used for its preparation. The following research question was asked in the paper: How did the COVID‑19 pandemic affect the practical side of teaching, specifically in the acquisition and improvement of aviation skills in the surveyed aviation clubs? The hypothesis adopted in this study that the COVID‑19 pandemic period reduced the number of air strikes (compared to the period before the pandemic) was largely rejected. In both surveyed associations, the largest part of all air operations in 2018–2020 were sailplane flights. The authors were surprised to find that despite the pandemic, the increase in demand for training in the field of sailplane flights was reflected in a marked increase in the number of flying hours. This fact was confirmed by the analysis of data from monitoring the work of pilots and reports on the work of AMO and CAMO personnel.
