Summary/Abstract: The text is a presentation of selected results of an ethnographic research project entitled “Ritual Map of Upper Silesia” implemented by the Regional Institute of Culture in Katowice. It presents a small fragment of the work, more precisely the examples of, according to the author, the most interesting traditions “found” in the field. Among them one may found the Easter custom of rolling eggs, recognized as no longer functioning in the studied region, as well as gospoda (common prayer and walking from house to house with a picture of the Virgin Mary and st Joseph), golenie brody (shaving beard), chodzenie z kozłem (walking with a goat), józefek (traditional gathering of local men), marzanki (decorated dolls set outside households to symbolize girls and young women residing in the household) and marzołki (similar to marzanka effigies symbolizing boys and young men), krzyżoki and brama wielkanocna (gathering of 12 local men singing, preparing the easter gate and walking around fields), obchód za Panem Bogiem (making rounds following God).
