Development in the Service of Documents in International Private Law Disputes

Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the vital importance of prompt and efficient service of court documents abroad. It pays attention to the national rules of the Civil Procedure Code and to some of the bilateral contracts signed by the Republic of Bulgaria so far. The provisions of the Hague Convention on the Service Abroad of Judicial and Extra-judicial Documents in Civil and Commercial Matters are discussed from the theoretical and the practical point of view. Some reservations made to the application of the Service Convention by the Republic of Bulgaria are criticised and proposals for the development of national law are made.
