Summary/Abstract: The article presents a political analysis of problematic aspects of the Polish political regime’s democracy after joining the European Union (Freedom House and V–Dem monitoring). The author determines the correlation between the dominance of «Law and Justice» and liberal democracy deterioration. The article outlines the subjectivity of empirical monitoring due to the strong influence of the international environment on the degree of democracy.
