The Concept of Human Dignity in Bioethics: Challenges and Perspectives

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to explore the concept of human dignity in a bioethical context. In the first part of the study, dignity is approached from the perspective of the statement in international human rights documents and specific bioethical documents. The following section focuses on the analysis of some sources of human dignity and discusses the challenges that the meanings of the concept raise in bioethics. At the end of the paper, I support the necessity and usefulness of the concept of human dignity in bioethics.
