Summary/Abstract: The “Research Center of Greek Folklore” at the Academy in Athens, Greece, organized an international conference on “Nikolaos Politis and the Research Center of Greek Folklore”, which was held on Dec. 4–7, 2003, in the Academy of Athens. The conference dealt with the life and work of the first Greek folklorist, Nikolaos Politis (1852–1921). Fifty participants from six countries presented, with great success, contributions on the continuing theoretical and methodological importance of Nikolaos Politis as well as on his international relations with European folklorists.
