Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses the protection of personal data in the European ecosystem of health data. The article explores the background of EU data protection framework highlighting the key principles and regulations that govern data protection in Europe. The article provides an overview of health data, detailing the different types of data that fall under this category and the potential risks involved in handling such information. The paper goes on to examine the various legal and ethical concerns that arise in the context of health data protection, including issues related to informed consent, international data transfers and data breaches. The article highlights the importance of protecting personal data in the context of health data and the need for a robust and effective data protection framework to safeguard patient privacy and trust and at the same time improving medical services.
