National political and social activities of some Hungarofile Slovak personalities in the times of the Dualism

Summary/Abstract: The recent study in the context of researching of double tights and complex identities focuses on some personalities (Samo Czambel, Adolf Pechány, György Podhradszky a Gejza Zsebráczky), who have never denied their Slovak origin, their mother tongue, and what is more, during their career as governement referents, journalists, editors they have every day used Slovak language. However, they have not only accepted the Hungarian state idea, but they have continuously proclaimed and popularized it, as well. This outline concentrates on the birth and development of their Hungarophil conviction as well as on their conflicts with the so called national Slovak society. On the other hand, it also portrays the intolerant part of Hungarian circles that could not accept, not even imagine that loyalty to the state and could not understand that Hungarian patriotism could be strenghtened through the mother tongues of Non-Magyar (German, Slovak, Romanian, etc.) citizens.
