Summary/Abstract: This text examines the role of Milutin Čekić, as manager of the National Theater of Croatian National Theater in Zagreb during the theater reforms between the two wars (1918-1940), and his work on theater reform, as well as the influence of social relations of that time and current European trends in art and culture. Did he solve the difficult economic situation of the National Theater in Zagreb during his tenure as manager, and what results were achieved in such a short time from 1929 to 1933? What is the influence of the financial and material situation on the quality of the repertoire and audience response, and how socio-political relations affect culture in the period between the two wars.
