Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses certain limitations of science that prevent arriving at the perfected science. According to Nicholas Rescher the perfected science implies accomplishing four theoretical conditions: erotetic completeness, pragmatic completeness, predictive completeness and temporal finality (the Ω-condition). These conditions are connected to specific goals of scientific inquiry. Yet, in Rescher’s view both theoretical and practical obstacles (e.g. question dynamics, instability of science, cognitive complexity, sophisticated technology, finite /also financial/ resources) prevent us from completing science. Thus, the perfected science is nothing more than an idealization which is useful to reveal a limited character of our scientific effort.
