Summary/Abstract: Religious security refers to ensuring freedom of belief, religious practices, and protectionagainst all forms of discrimination, violence, or persecution related to religious beliefs. The concept ofreligious security also encompasses the protection of places of worship, religious buildings, and otherresources associated with religious practices. Religious security impacts overall public safety, since actsof violence and discrimination against religious communities (as well as acts of violence committed byreligious groups) can have negative social and political consequences. Religious security in the SlovakRepublic is governed by relevant legal provisions and constitutional guarantees. The system of religioussecurity in Slovakia has its strengths, such as protecting religious freedom, but also limitations that canbe detrimental to certain religious groups.
