Summary/Abstract: Review: Jerzy Kandziora, Ocalony w gmachu wiersza: o poezji Stanisława Barańczaka [‘Saved in the Edifice of a Poem: Stanisław Barańczak’s Poetry’]. This interpretation focuses on the essentially ambiguous notion of ‘salvation’, while at the same time the author endeavours to point out the sources of such a perspective. These ought to include above all the works and discoveries related to Ricoeurian hermeneutics as well as Gadamer’s reinterpretation of the classical concept of mimesis. These invaluable contributions to twentieth-century humanities shed light on Barańczak’s concept of erecting the edifice of the poem as a salvaging exercise – and it is a concept that is free neither of drama nor of internal tensions.
