Education and the knowledge based economy challenge

Summary/Abstract: The text attempts to find the place and role of education in the Polish trajectory of the knowledge based economy development. Dynamics and complexity of ongoing economic and sociocultural transformations require a new approach towards production, transfer and use of knowledge. Education as a medium of the knowledge based economy has to face challenges of the contemporary world, i.e. in Poland education is supposed to create a society that conforms to principles of competitiveness, innovativeness and constant improvement to knowledge and skills. In the above context educational specialists are perceived as elements of greater networks created to exchange information on production and use of knowledge.
