Summary/Abstract: The prayer „Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner!“ it has two points of support: the dogmatic one - the recognition of Christ’s Divinity - and the request one - the prayer for our salvation. In other words, the confession of faith in Christ is related to the confession of our impotence to be saved only by our own strength. This says it all, and the whole fight of the Christian is based on these two things: faith in Christ and the knowledge of our sinfulness. Thus, the Jesus Prayer shows in a few words all the effort of the believer and summarizes the entire dogmatic teaching of our Orthodox Church.
