Summary/Abstract: This article describes desistance from crime/abandonment of criminal behavior in the scientific discourse of Polish social rehabilitation pedagogy. On the Polish ground, it is a research category in social rehabilitation, but virtually absent from the broader pedagogical discourse. Desistance from criminal behavior, or more broadly: deviant, para-criminal behavior or manifestations of social maladjustment, in the light of the analysis conducted in the pages of this article, deserves to be called a pedagogical conceptual category forming, evolving, functioning, as it were, "in a state of creation" (Palka, 2003).
