Summary/Abstract: The presence of the body in many French-language texts may be linked to multiple meanings, but it most often reflects the way in which writers conceive their relationship with the societies in which they were born. Literary authors use the body in order to denounce the social injustices suffered by individuals, especially women, in their countries, for purely socio-cultural reasons. Driss Chraïbi and Khaled Hosseini are relevant examples in this sense. Representing two distinct literatures corresponding to two different geographical areas, namely Morocco and Afghanistan, the two writers share meanwhile one culture. Through their writing, the two authors highlight the bodily experiences by means of realistic descriptions and scenarios of the female body in all its states. Their goal is to attack patriarchy and misogyny pervading their respective societies.
