Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the content of Austrian and German newspapers published in 1846 inrelation with Austria’s annexation of the Free City of Krakow. These newspapers describedthe process of annexation and the subsequent internal situation in Krakow. They publishedofficial documents such as the Austrian emperor Ferdinand’s manifest and the Austrian mar-shal Castiglione’s proclamation about the dissolution of the Free City of Krakow. Informa-tion is also provided about the attitude of the residents of Krakow and the city’s history. Thepress speculated about the future of Krakow in the Habsburg monarchy.
