Summary/Abstract: The report examines the need for a maritime control and surveillance system adequate to modern conditions, guaranteeing a high degree of security, as well as for appropriate training of the forces to perform the tasks related to this control. Under the conditions formed in recent years, the relevance is further strengthened by the specific geostrategic situation of the Black Sea, as well as by the growing potential danger of illegal arms trafficking, drug trafficking, illegal migration, trafficking of cultural and historical heritage and the risk of terrorist acts. At the same time, the current situation in the region, a result of the ongoing military conflict between the Black Sea states, requires the states to take timely actions in order to minimize the negative consequences and prevent future, similar processes and phenomena.
