Harmonious smart growth of European Union regions

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the paper is the identification of individual benchmarks of smart growth and evaluation of harmonious smart development for the EU regions NUTS 2 by ap-plying the apparatus of multidimensional statistical analysis for pillars facilitating smart growth assessment. The following three pillars of smart growth were identified: smart spe-cialization, creativity and innovation. Additionally numerous indicators allowing for their quantification were defined. The path of harmonious smart growth was constructed and an individual growth benchmark for NUTS 2 regions was identified.
