Summary/Abstract: Introduction: Tuberculosis is a global public health problem in terms of the highest reported mortality of all emerging infections. Objective: This work can serve as an overview of the used diagnostic methods and susceptibility testing or resistance to anti TB drugs. Core of work: The diagnostic procedure for tuberculosis is based on a thorough anamnesis, assessment of the epidemiological situation, clinical examination, imaging methods (anteroposterior X-ray or CT scan), microbiological examinations, endoscopic examination (bronchoscopy), histological examination, tuberculin sensitivity and detection of latent TB infection. Conclusions: The diagnosis of this disease in several endemic areas of TB around the world is currently a problem. Therefore, better diagnostic techniques have recently been developed in an effort to achieve a more accurate result. Elimination of the disease is still hampered by high rates of multidrug-resistant TB and by the spread of TB in vulnerable groups of the population.
