Summary/Abstract: Taking the view that the phraseology of a language is profoundly influenced by its cultural patterns, we aim to outline and discuss the main culture-oriented approaches to phraseology, and provide a review of some influential typologies of cultural elements revealed in phraseological units. Using the given theoretical framework for describing the cultural data stored i phrasemes, we try to identify and interpret some segments of Petar II Petrović Njegoš’s phraseology from the viewpoint of their relevance to culture. The cultural implications are examined according to the dimensions and categories of culture phraseological units reflect, the semantic level at which the elements of culture appear, and according to the types of phrasemes in terms of their cultural boundness.
