Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the history of the study of the relationship between the Ukrainian and Romanian states in 1917-1918. The fall of the Russian Empire, the continuation of the First World War, the proclamation of the Ukrainian and Moldavian People's Republics formed new geopolitical realities in East Central Europe, including in the resolution of territorial disputes. The author came to the conclusion that in Ukrainian historiography the problem of Ukrainian-Romanian relations during the period of revolutions remains on the margins of scientific interests. The focus of the researchers is, first of all, the “Bessarabian question“. That is, intergovernmental discussions about the belonging of the multi-ethnic Bessarabian province. This administrative unit was interpreted by Kyiv as a potential part of the UPR. Also, the Romanian issues were considered in the context of contacts with the countries of the Entente and the Quadruple Alliance. After the proclamation of the annexation of the Moldavian Republic to the Romania in 1918, this problem was transferred by scientists into a wider format of research of interstate relations. Which also involves the analysis of economic sanctions by Ukraine.
