Summary/Abstract: At the end of the First World War, the winners and losers sat down at the negotiating table. The winners, in turn, were divided into two categories: the great powers, with global interests, and smaller allies, with regional interests. Establishing the border between Romania and Serbia represented a tough, unpleasant and sad diplomatic war. Take Ionescu took the personal initiative to propose to Serbia the division of the Banat, which led to internal and external dissensions. Prime Minister Brătianu fought for the complete appropriation of the Banat, and the Great Powers speculated on the misunderstandings between the Romanians. The border definitively established in 1924 has remained unchanged ever since. It is hard to say whether it was a good decision, a political one, a calculated one or simply a rushed one.
