Summary/Abstract: Despite the technological progress entering the world of research and consequent numerous facilitations in conducting studies (e.g. partial digitalization of archives), archive queries still constitute the basis of every historian’s work. It is especially relevant when conducting studies in the archives located in the East, where the aforementioned notion of digitalization does not exist and the very fact of the existence of a comprehensive guide to the collection must be considered an unusually significant convenience. Therefore, the article is dedicated to those who – despite the adversities – decided themselves to the research on Poland in the East. The aim of the article is an analysis of the archive collection gathered in two key archives of Lviv – Central State Historical Archives of Ukraine and State Archives of Lviv Oblast – paying special attention to the documentation preserved there concerning the history of Polish military of the Second Polish Republic.
