Summary/Abstract: In December 1932 by order of the Chief of the Main Staff of the Polish Army, Brigadier General Janusz Gąsiorowski, the Inspection Bureau of the General Inspectorate of the Armed Forces sent a questionnaire to the army inspectors and generals „for works” at the General Inspectorate of the Armed Forces concerning the evaluation of the system of trainings and performance at work of the certified officers in the Polish Army. In the collection of the Military History Bureau – Central Military Archive in Warsaw a complete set of answers to this questionnaire survived and it constitutes an excellent record of how the officers highest in rank and function in the Polish Army perceived its elite – certified officers, graduates of the Higher War School in Warsaw. This set of answers is complemented by the report of the military attaché in Bucharest, certified Lieutenant-Colonel Jan Kowalewski, written in December 1934, concerning the system of trainings for certified officers in Romania. This document correlates with the previous ones not only because of its subject but also because it had been prepared following the order of the Chief of the Main Staff of the Polish Army, Brigadier General Gąsiorowski, to conduct further research on the trainings and development system of the certified officers by means of an analysis of the solutions applied in foreign armies.
