Summary/Abstract: The article analyses and explores the Turkish foreign policy after the Cold War, especially the dimension of the EU orientation of Turkey for a full membership and the new Turkish regional policy in the Caucasians and Central Asia. In a contemporary historical context, a special emphasis is also given to the internal aspects of foreign policy, such as the decision-making process and changing perceptions of decision-makers. Based on the analysis of the last decades, the article explores the question of continuity and new orientations of Turkey and tries to answer the question if the new orientations in Turkish foreign policy were established in order to replace the EU orientation with the only destination of full membership or in order to realize an adaptation to the new conditions in its surrounding regions. Thus the article intends to locate Turkey and its foreign policy in the new constellation in Eurasia.
