Summary/Abstract: The article concerns a potential change in the method of electing the President of the Republic of Poland, consisting in abandoning the universal and direct elections in force since 1990 and introducing elections using the method of an extended parliament. The study verifies the hypothesis that forms of electing the president with the participation of the parliament are present in the Polish tradition. The second research assumption relates to the relationship between the constitutional role of the head of state and the over-normative legitimacy resulting from the general election.
