Summary/Abstract: The author remembers Zbigniew Słupski (born June 3, 1934 in Ostrava, died August 6, 2020 in Warsaw), Polish sinologist, a longtime lecturer, then professor and head of the Department of Sinology at the Faculty of Oriental Studies at the University of Warsaw, where he worked from 1973, obtaining a habilitation and then a professorship, although he studied at the Charles University in Prague, where he got in 1965 his doctorate supervised by Prof. Jaroslav Průšek. Professor Słupski specialized in Chinese literature,history, philosophy and literary studies. He was the author of historical and theoretical literary works on both contemporary Chinese literature, in a special way about short stories, and early Chinese literature. In addition, he was a translator of numerous historical and contemporary Chinese works, published, inter alia, in anthologies he edited.
