Summary/Abstract: This study is devoted to interesting and surprisingly complex reflections on the partridge present in the correspondence of Ambrose of Milan (ep. 39–40). Against the background of a generally positive and subdued image of nature, an unequivocally negative, even ethically repugnant, perception of the partridge stands out.
