Summary/Abstract: The text aims, by observing the syntactic features of headlines of news articles from the Bulgarian online media, to analyze the popularity and preference of some syntactic constructions over others, as well as to evaluate the influence of the headlines (and their syntax) on their target audience. Subject of research is the usage of attention-grabbing techniques and click-bait in article headlines and how it may lead to manipulation, disinformation and fake news. The aim of the research is to observe the influence of social media and the Internet over the news industry and modern-day journalism.
