Summary/Abstract: This critical reflection is an attempt to identify how the Critical Social Justice Theory promoted by the New Left, trans-activism, intersectionalist feminism, and other studies labeled as 'woke' could be understood from a wider historical, political, and cultural perspective. The analysis starts from the observation that this new identity ideology does not take into consideration other facets and interests of human experience; that it is a new form of political correctness; and that the academy should not stand by and allow it to arrest free speech and diversity of opinion.
