Summary/Abstract: Proper names represent an area of language which – while remaining in close correlation with the entirety of human culture – is testimony to both the facts of the past and the present reality. They reflect human activity, as well as people’s coexistence and mutual relationship with nature. These expansive globalisation and technological changes have thus been compared to two nomenclature classes that self-identify as onomastic subdisciplines, i.e. chrematonomastics and medioonomastics. This article presents the terminology foundations in the field of chrematonomastic studies and areas of interest in the field of nomenclature in new media. The subject of the research was the Polish names of animal blogs. This study contains 100 titles that were analysed in terms of the mechanisms of name-formation and in the light of the notion of a language game in order to identify the latest trends concerning fauna elements in Polish media nomenclature. The names of the blogs discussed in the article are a specific element of virtual reality, forcing one to think and undertake other creative activities thanks to their non-standard form, consisting in deliberately breaking language rules and using English-language elements.
