Summary/Abstract: Nikodem Sulik went down in history as commander of the Vilnius District of Polish Victory Service/Union of Armed Struggle and commander of the 5th Kresy Infantry Division, participating in the Battle of Monte Cassino. After the war has ended, Sulik along with other soldiers of the Polish 2nd Corps, commanded by general Władysław Anders, found himself in Great Britain, where he joined the Polish Resettlement Corps. After the demobilization he began civilian life, joining the political and social activity of the emigrants and struggling with his family’s financial problems at the same time. He belonged to many political and social organizations of the emigrants and structures of the Polish refugee authorities, representing the military circle. He died suddenly on the 14th of January 1954, leaving behind the legend of the „general from Kresy”, which lives to this day.
