Summary/Abstract: The article considers the specific characteristics, cross-cultural influences and new tendencies in Bulgarian music at the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries. It focuses on the interaction between jazz and “classical music” in the 21st century. The purpose of the article is to systemize the main aspects of the influences in contemporary jazz music in Bulgaria as well as the musicians and their compositions. Works from the last decade have been analysed. This includes pieces by musicians of different generations: Milcho Leviev, Lubomir Denev, Antoni Donchev, Hristo Yotzov, Theodosii Spasov, Angel Zaberski-Jr, among others. One conclusion from the research is that the most common compositional genres include the instrumental concert, concerto grosso, rhapsody, divertimento, suite, etc.
