Summary/Abstract: Documentation for works of art and description of the conservation process are subject to many scientific studies and discussions. On the one hand, they explore documentation that provides a detailed description of the object, his identification, and history of creation, discovery, acquisition, and entry into public or private collection. On the other hand, the conservation documentation has the objective to be as inclusive as possible and comprise all the conservation processes to which an artwork has been subjected. Thus, conservation documentation incorporates a great volume of information, which is expected to be most inclusive at the present time and remain current (as long as possible) in the future. Consequently, the conservation documentation should be as comprehensive as possible and therefore constituting a semi-universal document. The present study of documentation and universality examines the possibility of a universal documentation form created for the conservation of art objects; discusses methods for documentation, and outlines contemporary high-technological documentation systems such as Digital Asset Management System (DAMS), Collections Management System (CMS), and Spectrum.
